Davidson County

County in central North Carolina; area 1,419 sq km/548 sq mi; population (1990) 126,677. It is situated in the Piedmont, bounded to the south and west by the Yadkin River. Its administrative headquarters is Lexington. Its agricultural output includes tobacco, corn, wheat, and dairy products. Textile and other industries are centred in Thomasville and Lexington.
