Davies, Fanny (1861–1934)

English pianist. She was for many years one of London's popular favourites and an exponent of the true Schumann tradition. She was also interested in contemporary piano music, especially Debussy and the Spanish and Czech schools.

Davies was born in Guernsey. She went to Leipzig, Germany, to study music, and became a pupil of Carl Reinecke and also of Oscar Paul. While staying in Frankfurt she studied with Clara Schumann. She played at all the great European festivals and accompanied the Hungarian violinist Joseph Joachim.
