Davies, Terence (1945- )

British film director. He forged his reputation on the strength of films dealing impressionistically with his own family background and early life in Liverpool. Distant Voices/Still Lives (1988) won the Cannes Film Festival critics' award and was succeeded by The Long Day Closes (1992).

He later made the literary adaptations The Neon Bible (1995) and The House of Mirth (2000) in the USA.
