Davis, Alice Brown

Davis, Alice Brown (1852–1935)

Seminole leader. In the 1890s, she acted as an interpreter for Seminoles seeking a new home. Later, she became superintendent of the Seminole girls' school and often represented her people in court and in many ways served as a chief.

She born near Park Hill in present-day Oklahoma. Before going to Mexico as an interpreter, she was the co-owner of a trading post.
