Davis, Charles Henry (1807-1877)

US naval officer and scientist. He surveyed the waters around Nantucket and contributed to the establishment of the American Ephemeris and Nautical Almanac (1849). He commanded the Upper Mississippi Flotilla and captured Memphis in 1862.

He was born in Boston, Massachusetts.
