Davis, Frances (c. 1882-1965)

US nurse and community leader. She was the first black American nurse to be officially enrolled by the American National Red Cross. As a nursing supervisor, administrator, and visiting nurse in Detroit, Michigan, she encouraged black American education.

She was born in Shelby, North Carolina.
