Davis, Jefferson Columbus (1828-1879)

Union soldier. Although he shot and killed his commanding officer after an argument in 1862, he used his political influence and he went unpunished. He returned to duty and led a corps in General Sherman's march to the sea (1864-65).

He was born in Clark County, Indiana.
