Davis Strait

Strait separating North America and Greenland, and joining Baffin Bay with the Atlantic Ocean. It is about 300 km/186 mi across at the narrowest point, and the greatest depth is about 610 m/2,001 ft. The name is derived from the English navigator and explorer John Davis, who was the first to explore it in 1585-87.
