Dawson of Penn, Bertrand Edward

Dawson of Penn, Bertrand Edward (1864-1945)

English court physician. He was physician extraordinary to Edward VII 1907-10 and to George V 1910-14. An authority on gastric diseases, he wrote The Diagnosis and Operative Treatment of Diseases of the Stomach and numerous articles on influenza, diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, diseases of the lymphatic system, and the use of X-rays.

He was president of the Royal College of Physicians in 1931 and of the British Medical Association 1932-33 and 1943-45. He was raised to the peerage in 1920 and created a viscount in 1936.
