Born in Switzerland, she ended up in Davis during the halcyon period when the school was arguably at its most interesting: The art department faculty included such figures as Wayne Thiebaud, Robert Arneson, Roy De Forest, and Manuel Neri. Fotes was previously the commercial tire consultant at GCR Tire Center, De Forest, Wis. KEY BACKGROUND: On exhibit from Thursday, June 29 through Sunday, July 2 will be life-sized cows painted by some of California's most prominent artists, including Squeak Carnwath, Roy De Forest, David Lynch, Manuel Neri, Ruby Neri, Nathan Olivera and William Wiley. |
