    0.01 sec.

De Palma, Brian (Russell) (1940- )

US film director. Frequently derided by critics for being derivative of English film director Alfred Hitchcock, De Palma is nevertheless a technical master of the cinematic medium, as shown in such films as Dressed to Kill (1980) and Mission: Impossible (1996).

De Palma started his career by making experimental films such as Hi, Mom! (1968) with a young Robert De Niro. Other films include Sisters (1973), Carrie (1976), Obsession (1976), Blow Out (1981), Scarface (1983), Body Double (1984), The Untouchables (1987), Bonfire of the Vanities (1990), Carlito's Way (1993), and Mission to Mars (2000).
