De Pere

Town in Brown County, east Wisconsin; population (1990) 16,600. It is located on the Fox River, 6 km/4 mi southwest of Green Bay. Paper and papermaking machinery, boats, pharmaceuticals, and machine parts are among the town's principal products. De Pere is home to St Norbert College (1898). In 1669, Jesuits established Wisconsin's first mission on the site of the future town.
