De Ridder

Town and administrative headquarters of Beauregard Parish, also in Vernon Parish, southwest Louisiana; population (2000) 9,800. It is located 70 km/43 mi north-northwest of Lake Charles. De Ridder is the market and processing centre of a region producing corn, grains, oranges, soybeans, pine lumber, turpentine, and wool.
