DeLillo, Don (1936- )

US novelist. His dark and highly complex novels examine images of American culture, power, conspiracy, and obsession. They include Americana (1971), White Noise (1985, National Book Award) Libra (1988), Mao II (1991), and Cosmopolis (2003). His novel Underworld (1998) earned him both the 1999 Jerusalem Prize and the 2000 William Dean Howells Medal.
