Debora e Jaele

    0.01 sec.

Debora e Jaele

Opera by Ildebrando Pizzetti (libretto by composer), first produced at the Teatro alla Scala, Milan, Italy, on 16 December 1922. It is loosely based on the biblical story; Sisera, here the king of Canaa, faces a conflict between his love for Jael and duty. Later Jael splits the sleeping Sisera's skull, rather than leave him to a worse death before the victorious Israelites.
