Decamps, Alexandre Gabriel (1803–1860)

French painter and lithographer. An Orientalist somewhat earlier than Eugène Delacroix, he visited Constantinople and Asia Minor and painted many scenes of Arab life which were popular with the French public after the occupation of Algiers 1830.
