Deer Lake

Town in west Newfoundland, Canada; population (1991) 4,300. It is situated on the Humber River, at the north end of Deer Lake, and 47 km/29 mi northeast of Corner Brook, on the Trans-Canada Highway. It is a lumbering and sawmilling centre. A hydroelectric plant here powers Corner Brook's mills.
