Demidenko, Nikolai (1955- )

Russian pianist. He studied at the Moscow Conservatory and has given concerts in Russia and abroad from 1978; he made his UK debut with the Moscow Radio Symphony Orchestra in 1985. In 1980 he moved to live in Britain, and gave a series of six concerts at the Wigmore Hall in 1993, recreating 19th-century recitals by Alkan and Rubinstein. He has made frequent tours of Japan, and conducted concerts with the St Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra, the London Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Philharmonia. His recordings include Medtner, Bach-Busoni, Chopin, and Liszt.
