DenpasarCapital town of Bali in the Lesser Sunda Islands of Indonesia; population (2000) 387,500. With its international airport, it is the largest commercial centre on the island, and the axis of road transport. Industries include food processing, machinery, papermaking and printing, and handicrafts. Denpasar is home to a university (1962), a museum of Balinese art, and the Konservatori Kerawitan, internationally famous as a centre for Balinese dance.
