Derry

One of four districts in the county of Londonderry, Northern Ireland; population (2001) 90,800. The name is also commonly used in the Republic of Ireland and by nationalists in Northern Ireland for the city and county of Londonderry.

Derry

Town in Rockingham County, southeast New Hampshire; population (1990) 29,600. It is on Beaver Brook, its waterpower source, 16 km/10 mi southeast of Manchester. In an agricultural and resort area, it was set off from Londonderry to the west in 1827. Local products have historically included boots and shoes. Robert Frost's farm, where the poet lived (1900–09) while teaching at local Pinkerton Academy, is in Derry. West-Running Brook, which gave its name to one of Frost's best-known poems, flows from near the farm into Beaver Brook.
