desiccator

Airtight vessel, traditionally made of glass, in which materials may be stored either to dry them or to prevent them, once dried, from reabsorbing moisture.

The base of the desiccator is a chamber in which is placed a substance with a strong affinity for water (such as calcium chloride or silica gel), which removes water vapour from the desiccator atmosphere and from substances placed in it.
