Despard, Mrs Charlotte (1844-1939)

English suffragette and social reformer. She was a poor law guardian, a socialist orator, and an extreme pacifist during World War I.

Afterwards she lived in Dublin, where she was a strong supporter of Éamon de Valera. She was a sister of John French, 1st Earl of Ypres.
