Desperate Housewives

US primetime television soap opera. The darkly comic series, first aired by the American Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) in 2004, follows the lives of wealthy suburban families, exposing the family conflicts and sexual escapades of a group of women who on the surface seem to live in domestic bliss. The series explores their roles and expectations, and the frustrations, loneliness, and yearnings of their lives.

The series was created by Marc Cherry (1962– ) and is produced by Touchstone Television. The housewives are Susan Mayer, played by Teri Hatcher (1964– ); Lynette Scavo, played by Felicity Huffman (1962– ); Bree Van De Kamp, played by Marcia Cross (1962– ); Gabrielle Solis, played by Eva Longoria (1975– ), and Edie Britt, played by Nicolette Sheridan (1963– ).
