Desportes, Philippe (1546–1606)
| French poet. He was court poet to Henry III. His poems include Premières oeuvres/First Works (1573) and metrical versions of the Psalms. His love poetry, harmonious though conventional, reflects a revival of the style of the Italian poet Petrarch. |
