Deutsches Requiem, Ein| Work for chorus, soprano, and baritone solo, and orchestra by Brahms, Op. 45, composed 1866–69 and first performed in Leipzig, Germany, on 18 February 1869, conducted by Carl Reinecke. The name refers to the fact that Brahms did not set the liturgical Latin text, but a choice of his own from Luther's translation of the Bible. |
