Device Bay

Standardized slot or drive bay for hard disk drives, CD-ROM drives, tape back-up units, and other devices. Device Bay should make personal computers easier to upgrade, and should allow devices to be swapped easily between different machines. Devices are connected either via a USB port or a 1394 port built into the bay. The Device Bay format was agreed by Compaq, Intel, and Microsoft in 1997.
