Devils of Loudun, The

Opera by Krzysztof Penderecki (libretto by composer after John Whiting's play The Devils), based on a narrative by Aldous Huxley which describes a case of diabolic possession in a 17th-century convent of Ursuline nuns (Father Grandier is accused of bewitching them). It was first performed in Hamburg, Germany, on 20 June 1969.
