Dezful

Market town in Khuzestan province, western Iran, 300 km/186 mi west of Esfahan; population (2006) 235,800. Dezful is situated on the River Ab-i-Dez which is dammed upstream of the town. The chief industries are dyeing and felt manufacture. The ancient ruins of Shura lie 25 km/16 mi to the south.
