Dialogues des Carmélites, Les

Opera by Francis Poulenc (libretto by G Bernanos), first produced at La Scala, Milan, Italy, on 26 January 1957. It is set during the French Revolution, when the sisters of the Carmelite order are condemned to death. The opera follows the contrasting Blanche and Constance, who meet the same fate.
