Three Irish kings: Diarmid I of the Uí Néill dynasty, King of Tara, killed in 565 in revenge for having killed a youth who had taken sanctuary with Columcille (St Columba); Diarmid II, King of Tara, who reigned 658–65; and Diarmid III, King of Leinster, who reigned 1042–72.
