Dichter, Mischa (1945– )

Chinese-born US pianist of Polish parentage. He was brought up in Los Angeles and studied at Juilliard. He won the silver medal at the 1966 Tchaikovsky Competition, and made his US debut with the Boston Symphony Orchestra the same year. His London debut was in 1967, with the New Philharmonia. He has often visited Russia and is well known for his poetic interpretations of Chopin, Brahms, and Beethoven.
