Dick, William Reid (1879–1961)

Scottish sculptor. His work includes a large number of portrait heads and busts, notably the busts of King George V in the Mansion House, London; of Horatio Kitchener in St Paul's Cathedral; and the statue of US president F D Roosevelt in Grosvenor Square, London, 1948.

Born in Glasgow, Dick studied at the Glasgow School of Art and in London, and first exhibited at the Royal Academy 1908. His other works include a bust of Winston Churchill; the eagle for the Royal Air Force Memorial in London; the lion on the Menin Gate 1927 in Ypres, Belgium; a statue of King George V in Westminster; and an equestrian statue of Lady Godiva in Coventry.
