Dietrich, Albert (Hermann) (1829–1908)

German composer and conductor. He wrote a violin and piano sonata jointly with Schumann and Brahms in 1853, though his most successful works were his songs. He was court music director at Oldenburg from 1861.

Works the opera Robin Hood (1879); incidental music to Shakespeare's Cymbeline (performed London, 1896); symphony in D minor; choral and orchestral works; horn concertos; chamber music.
