DigiCash

In computing, one of several competing systems for electronic money suitable for use on the Internet. Invented by Belgian-based US cryptographer David Chaum, DigiCash uses public-key cryptography techniques to assure anonymity. Trials of the system began in 1994 using software developed for Windows, Unix, and the Mac. At the end of 1998, the company went bankrupt.
