Dillingham

Dillingham

Town in southwest Alaska; population (1990) 2,000. It is situated on Nushagak Bay, an arm of Bristol Bay in the Bering Sea, 530 km/330 mi southwest of Anchorage. A centre for salmon fishing and processing since the opening of a cannery in 1886, it is also a supply point for trappers along the Nushagak River.
