Dinkelsbühl

Town in Bavaria, Germany, on the River Wörnitz, 141 km/88 mi northwest of Munich; population (1994) 11,400. One of the city-states of the Holy Roman Empire, Dinkelsbühl has extensive medieval fortifications, including town walls, towers, and a moat, a late Gothic church (1448–99), many half-timbered medieval houses, and a former castle of the Teutonic Knights.

Every year, a Children's Week is held to commemorate the saving of the town from destruction by a delegation of its children in 1632, during the Thirty Years' War.
