Dionysius the Areopagite (lived c. 500 AD)

Christian mystical theologian. He is also known as Pseudo-Dionysius because he has been falsely identified with the Dionysius converted by Paul in Acts 17:34.

In the early 6th century letters written under his name appeared and were used to support the Monophysite position. The authenticity of these letters is disputed, though they were widely influential in both the Western and Eastern churches.
