Sharpened metallic blade used to remove facial or body hair. Razors were known in the Bronze Age. The safety razor was patented by William Henson in 1847; a disposable version was produced by King Gillette at the start of the 20th century. The earliest electric razors date from the 1920s.

There are large assortments of razor brands available which range from inexpensive disposable razors, medium priced razors with disposable blades, or the more expensive electric razors and cordless shavers.
This lock-'em-in-and-keep-'em-loyal routine has roots going back 100 years, with King Camp Gillette, who at one point gave away his innovative safety razor, then made his fortune selling the disposable blades.
