Ditchling Beacon

The second highest point on the South Downs, 9 km/6 mi north of Brighton, East Sussex, England. Ditchling Beacon is 248 m/814 ft high and is surmounted by an ancient earthwork. From here, sightseers can see far across the Weald. It lies on the South Downs long-distance footpath.

On top of Ditchling Beacon, one of a great chain of fires was lit in 1588 to warn of the approach of the Spanish Armada.
