Dixie, Florence Caroline (1857–1905)| British author and explorer, born in London. In 1878–79 she explored the wastes of Patagonia. She acted as war correspondent of the Morning Post in the Zulu War of 1879. She was an ardent advocate of women's rights. Her writings include Across Patagonia (1880), In the Land of Misfortune (1882), Aniwee: the Warrior Queen (1890), and numerous poems. |
