Djukanović, Milo (1962- )

Montenegrian politician, reformist president of Montenegro from 1997. He joined the League of Communists of Yugoslavia (LCY) in 1979, serving as a member of the Central Committee 1986-89. He served as prime minister of Montenegro 1991-97, when he succeeded Momir Bulatović as president.

His anti-Milošević coalition won Montenegro assembly elections in May 1998.

Born at Naksic, Montenegro, he was educated at Titograd University (since 1992 known as Podgorica).
