Dobb, Maurice Herbert (1900-1976)

English Marxist economist who wrote several works on the nature of capitalism.

Dobb was Emeritus Reader in Economics at the University of Cambridge; his writings were especially well received in socialist states, and in developing countries as they moved toward independence. His works include Studies in the Development of Capitalism, 1946, On Economic Theory and Socialism, 1955, and Theories of Value and Distribution since Adam Smith, 1973.
