In response to these challenges, the document imaging market is evolving from a basic storage and retrieval application to Electronic Document Management Systems (EDMS), which manages images, associated text, and data files, and enhances workflow. The new generation of such products will drive the number of people in the United States and Canada using these systems from just 50,000 in 1992 to 500,000 by the year 1997, predicted Bruce Silver, director of document imaging management at BIS Strategic Decisions, a consulting and market research firm based in Norwell, Mass. Seven organizations at the forefront of the printing and document imaging industry are working with the Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) to develop a vendor-neutral certification of technical skills for printing and document imaging products and solutions technicians, the association announced today. |
