Dodge, Henry

Dodge, Henry (1782–1867)

US pioneer, soldier, representative and senator. He served in the War of 1812 and the Black Hawk War. A governor of the Territory of Wisconsin, he served in the US House of Representatives and the US Senate as a Democrat for Wisconsin.

He was born at Post Vincennes, Indiana. When in government, he voted against the Kansas–Nebraska Act and was known for his fairness and toughness in his relations with the American Indians.
