Doese, Helena (1946- )

Swedish soprano. She made her debut in Götenburg in 1971, as Aida, and appeared in Berne 1972-75 as Jenůfa, Micaela, and Donna Anna. She sang at the Royal Opera in Stockholm from 1975, as Káta Kabanová and Eva, and at Glyndebourne from 1974, as Mozart's Countess and Fiordiligi. At the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, London, she has been admired since 1974 as Mimi, Gutrune, Agathe, and Amelia Boccanegra. Her US debut was in San Francisco, in 1982. Other roles include Ariadne, the Marschallin, and Elisabeth de Valois. She sang Ariadne at Stuttgart in 1992.
