Opera by Karl Ditters von Dittersdorf (libretto by G Stephanie, junior), first produced at the Burgtheater, Vienna, Austria, on 11 July 1786. The story tells how Gotthold and Leonore are forbidden to marry by their warring fathers, but after complications and disguises, the couple are united.
