Don Quixote

Symphonic poem by Richard Strauss, Op. 35, based on Cervantes, composed in 1897 and first performed in Cologne, Germany, on 8 March 1898. The work is described as ‘Fantastic Variations on a Theme of Knightly Character’ and contains important solo parts for cello (Don Quixote) and viola (Sancho Panza).
