Don Quixote, The Comical History of

Play by Thomas Durfey, based on Cervantes, with music by Henry Purcell and others. The music to parts i and ii was composed in 1694 by Purcell and John Eccles, and to part iii in 1695 by Akeroyde, Courteville, Pack, Morgan and Daniel Purcell. Part i. was first produced at Dorset Gardens, London, England, in May 1694; part ii. was produced at the same place in June 1694; and part iii. at the Drury Lane Theatre, London, in November 1695.
