| The exposed colony was situated in the Dehesa de Abajo (DdA; Puebla del Rio, Sevilla, southwestern Spain), in the vicinity of Donana National Park and only 1 km from the area affected by the Aznalcollar mine spill in 1998 (Baos et al. Lying on the south-west Atlantic coast of Spain, the vast and richly diverse Donana National Park has been described as Europe's last wilderness. Among them, not many can compare with Spain's Donana National Park, which lies on the Mediterranean coast a short distance across from Africa, and which is habitat to animals from two continents--and to an extraordinary variety of birds. |
