Donna

Town in Hidalgo County, extreme south Texas; population (1990) 12,700. It is situated in the Lower Rio Grande Valley, 19 km/12 mi east of McAllen. A processing and shipping centre in a rich irrigated farming area, it has dehydrating plants and canneries. Lamb and sheep are also raised in this city founded in 1906 as a stop on the St Louis, Brownsville & Mexico Railroad. Donna also serves as a winter resort.
